Hi, I’m a Cat 3 road racer who is a bit out of practice and have recently moved to the Storrington area. I’m looking to join a local cycling club and I see that SDBCC meet every Sunday at 9am. Is it possible for me to come along one Sunday and see how I get on? Are there numerous groups of different abilities which depart then meet back at the shop?

Hi ive heard you do Sunday Road Bike Rides, do I just turn up ?

    Many thanks

    • Hi Sharon.

Yes you are more than welcome to join our rides. No need to book just turn up on the day a little earlier than the depart time mentioned for each ride. (Ride details for each group road and MTB can be found in the forum section of this site)

Hope this helps and see you Sunday.

I’ve been road riding for a couple of years now and have been into the shop a few times mid ride with a couple of cycling buddies. I have just got back from a week in the Dolomites where I climbed Monte Grappa and some smaller but equally challenging climbs and I am now looking to push on with my fitness and cycling challenges.
Over a 25k training loop I average between 26 and 28kph and on longer 60-100k rides around 24kph. I regularly ride 300-400k a month although that is increasing.
I am keen to join a club that is not too structured but does have regular rides at the weekends and also odd evenings.
I am 47 years young and live on the coast at Middleton on Sea but would cycle or drive up as time allows.
I guess the intermediate group would be a good start, what do you think?

Is there a 2015 membership form available as the one in the link is 2014?

    Many thanks,

    • Hi Mike,

Good to hear from you, The Intermediate group sounds like it would be a good fit for you.
You (and your buddies) are more than welcome to come up and ride with us.

Our rides are regular and have a loose structure to them but are all social rides. (Just sensible, safe and fun riding)

We do sometimes have longer rides and or other events that interrupt regular Sunday rides so be sure to check the forum for up-to-date ride details, such as start time, distance and route etc.

Regarding membership form you can use the 2014 one and just amend the date yourself, or they may have some 2015 ones in store.

Hope that helps, and I look forward to riding with you.

    • Hi Jim,

You are more than welcome to come along to our Sunday morning rides, both the beginners group and intermediate group leave from the Storrington South Downs Bikes store at 8:30am. Have a chat with me Sunday morning and we will decide which group to start you off in. – Its always best to bring a little money for coffee and cake as we do stop most rides now.
